The door with which he enters your thoughts is locked and barred, and the hallway preceding it is so delapidated and unkempt that it would seem no one had been there for years. There are crooked and dusty picture frames littering the walls, the paint is peeling away, and the moisture in the air makes it difficult for you to get air to your lungs.
Of course, this observation could be completely false, as you are merely viewing the scene through the keyhole on the other side. You know you cannot enter in there - you don't have the key and you probably never will. You can see the light shining out the other door - the door he is waiting on the other side of, or maybe he's not there today. (because if you're not in the forest when the tree falls, is the forest even there in the first place?)
And as we all know, inside each keyhole there is a piece of film that distorts your view of things. Everything is how you want it to be when you look through both pieces of film to the outside - but when you're looking in his hallway, everything is dark. Falling apart. Tunnel vision. ____ vision?
The door with which he enters your thoughts is locked and barred, but there is a tall, skinny, ____-shaped hole in the wood. You wonder where it came from. It makes a perfect outline of him and you find yourself looking through it to see if he is there.
You barred the first door and lost the key to the second one so long ago; you don't remember when he could have broken in. Or maybe you built the door that way, and never told anyone.
_
The calendar is the only thing in his hallway that you can see clearly. It is white, has numbers and days, and is in many other ways just like any other calendar. However, this calendar counts down instead of up. You wonder how much you will cry when the calendar is gone.
_
When the hallway is occupied, time stands still. (However it is always occupied one way or another, just to different degrees.) This hallway is not unlike other short hallways, seeing as it takes only seconds, at the most, to come to the end of it. And when he is at the end, you expect him to keep walking and unlock the door for you (you swear he has the key), but he turns around and walks the opposite way, all the while laughing like he is the funniest thing on earth. Which he is.
_
Today you are left alone to think, and you end up thinking about him. This is no surprise, as when a person is contantly around you, they tend to invade your thoughts. You wonder how he will react to the crazy thing you did this time. You're not sure, but he just doesn't seem like a flower kind of guy. Especially not rainbow ones made of tissue paper.
_
You know there will come a time in your life when you will have to leave him forever. You will go off into the world and be successful and lovely and smart, and he will be forever immortalized in your memory. You wonder if you will ever see him again, and then you ask yourself if you really, truly want to.
_
You think the calendar is counting down to when he'll die - this is very probable, seeing as he is killing himself slowly. You can see it everytime he walks through his hallway; he is thin, then thinner, then skinny, and before long he is lighter then air and just as hard to look at. Well, you can look at air and talk to it and touch it, but people will think you're crazy. So you suppose you've gone mad. Everyone else seems to have done it.
Perhaps the last day on the calendar will be your own fault. The day when everything about him and that place will be a thing of the past. And because you can't find the key to the doorway, you will never speak with him face to face. The thing that hurts you the most is that there will always be a ____-shaped hole through your path to reality, and he is so tall and skinny and beautiful that no one else could possibly ever fit though it.
After all, who else could fit through a ____-shaped hole?
